Birth | DOULA CARE

One Beginning At A Time...
Life moving from the spark of conception, into the arms of the world is a moment of immense power & deep vulnerability
There is wisdom in honoring this transition with great care.

GENTLE BIRTH

GENTLE EARTH

As a birthkeeper,

I offer steady presence & continuous,
heartfelt support through your birth ceremony

I can accompany you with physical, emotional & spiritual support during your pregnancy & postpartum.

My role is to facilitate an atmosphere that may support & promote your feeling of safety, for you to have more access to your resources & stay connected & present in your body.
The ceremony of birth is a deeply transformative experience for baby moving from womb to the world,
& a mother being born anew.
I am in service of supporting a softer transition, protecting & facilitating this experience & portal of change with great reverence & respect.

Birth was the beginning to all of us.
It is sacred & should be treated as so.

    Closing of the Bones Ceremony

The Doula effect

Why Having a Doula Matters

When a birthing woman feels safe,
her body softens, breath deepens & the rhythm of birth can naturally unfold with a greater ease.
Having a Doula by your side can make a significant difference,
not just in birth outcomes, but in how you feel about your own experience.
For most of human history,
birth happened in natural environments,
spaces of deep trust & continuous support from women.
Today, much of that has shifted into medicalized environments where staff rotate between shifs & support can feel  impersonal.
As a Doula, I stay with you the whole time whether birth lasts a few hours or a few days; offering steady presence & strong faith in your process.
Through our meetings during pregnancy, we get to know each other.
You begin to sense my presence & I come to know you & your story.
How we deal with the intensity of birth is shaped by our unique stories, deeply imprinted in the body & reflected in its response mechanisms.

I believe in & support birth approaches that respect the birthing woman's autonomy, recognize birth as a natural process & integrate nervous system & trauma awareness in the meeting with both mother & child

i believe in least possible interference, allowing the birthing body to remain as undisturbed as possible, allowing the primal force to take over.
I accompany both home births & hospital births.
I do not interfere with the choice of where to give birth,
but I share my experiences openly.

I believe that especially in a hospital,
the presence & steadiness of a Doula makes a big difference.
  • A lower chance of interventions, including cesareans, episiotomies, assisted deliveries

  • Shorter labors and less need for pain medication

  • A greater sense of confidence, safety, and empowerment

  • Less risk of birth trauma

  • A more positive postpartum experience

  • Reduced emotional and physical burden on the partner/birth companion

Studies   show  that   continuous

support   during   labor   lead   to

…beyond the statistics,

what families remember the most is how they were held, seen & cared for in a vulnerable time.
a steady presence through the journey.

  Rituals & CEREMONIES

Closing of the Bones Ceremony
The Closing of the Bones is an ancient ritual that holds the intention of supporting cyclical transition - a closing of a cycle.

Traditionally, from Mexico, but also practiced in other parts of the world, it is a ritual held to help a mother return to herself, physically, emotionally & spiritually after the vast opening of a birth.

It is also offered as a ritual to help process & close a cycle of grief/loss/transition, for all women, not only mothers.

Through touch, rocking & wrapping the body with rebozos,
this ceremony supports integration, grounding, & honoring the profound transition the woman has been through.

It can take between 2,5 - 3,5 hours.
The ceremony is held by myself & my fellow Doula,  ‘Thea annestad’.

Within the ceremony, I can also offer optional energetic balancing using the isis pendelum,
supporting the restoration of free flow.

Mother Blessing

A sacred gathering to honor the rite of passage into motherhood.
The focus is on the mother & the transformation she is going through.

Creating a strong field of loving support in the presence of her loved ones, she is nurtured through ritual, blessings, song, touch, & shared intentions, Creating a powerful space of love & authentic connection to fill her cup before birth.

The ceremony has roots in indigenous traditions & consists of different elements .
it may be planned in advance or offered as a surprise.

I can help organize the mother blessing and/or hold the space for the ceremony.

How does it work?

If you feel called to receive my support,
whether you are planning a hospital birth or home birth,
whether this is your first child or not - i warmly invite you to to connect with me.
Our first meeting is free of charge & without obligation. This is an important space to feel into our chemistry, explore your needs & see if my energy & offerings align with what feels good for you.
If we’re not the right fit, I will gladly connect you with other trusted birth workers.
If you decide to have me as your Doula,
I will check my availability around your due date & reserve three weeks surrounding your estimated birth.
During that time, I remain on call & fully available when you need me.
You can choose from different birth support packages, based on the level of prenatal & postpartum care you feel called to receive & what best fits your circumstances.
Continuity creates safety, trust & connection
That’s why I recommend a minimum of three prenatal sessions before labor.

These sessions may include:
  • Birth Preparation course with partner
  • Therapeutic body work/massage
  • Breath awareness, Sound & relaxation
  • Other supportive practices and if desired, rituals tailored to your journey.
if you wish, our work together can also focus solely on pregnancy support & postpartum care.

Accessibility

I deeply believe that every woman should have access to continuous holistic support during pregnancy, birth & the first 40 days after. In an ideal world, Doulas would be an essential part of healthcare, freely available to all, and our official birthing systems would all work in favour of Mother & child in a way that promotes safety & trust. Since that’s not yet the case, I set my prices to reflect the time, energy, the studie, years of experience and dedication I pour into my work.
With that said, I know that financial circumstances vary.
Over the years, I’ve had some difficult conversations with women who long for support but feel it’s beyond their reach and what they can afford. This has been heartbreaking, and I’ve had to find a balance between honoring my work and keeping it accessible.
If you feel called to work with me, but face financial limitations, you can still reach out. I am open to discussing alternative solutions and flexible payment plans to make this support possible for you.

Every journey is unique and so is the support you may need.

It is possible to create a customized birth package tailored to your wishes & circumstances. Reach out & together we can find what feels best for you.

My Path to Becoming a

Doula / Birthkeeper

My journey began already when I was a little girl, with a deep curiosity & fascination about how we arrive here, and the first moments.. I felt a strong pull toward the mystery of life & death and that fascination never left me.
Later, as an adult, I found myself living in ways that didn’t fully honor my body or soul. Painful patterns and disconnection led me inward into a journey of deep healing. In that space, I also felt a call - to return to that childhood knowing and reconnect with the birth realm.
I am a certified Doula & child birth educator, with a 2 year education from Doula Skolen i Oslo/Bergen.

 Many courses,
personal research & studies of traditional/holistic midwifery & indigenous ways,
8 years of work experience, since 2018.

I believe in & support birth approaches that respect the birthing woman's atonomy, that respects that birth is natural process & that integrate nervous system & trauma awareness in the meeting with mother & child

I use my sensitivity, my life experience & all tools I have in my toolbox to serve this work, such as

my long background with dance & movement, yoga and meditation, breath, trauma awareness, my own therapeutic healing journey with energetic, somatic, shamanic, trauma informed body work.
Some people have asked me how I can be a Doula
without having physical children of my own.

For me, this path feels both intuitive & embodied.
I feel attuned to the pregnant & birthing body - the raw, honest movements of life, the subtle cues & energy that flows when space is truly held.
I bow with devotion to the force of maternal love,
the most powerful force we have. When we honor this force & meet birth as sacred and natural, supporting rather than controlling, I deeply believe that we we help sow peace in the world

It is the beginning of life. And when we care for that beginning with reverence, we contribute to a more gentle, peaceful & compassionate planet.
